Blogging is an art and using the right blogging tool will make your art rise and shine. This epic list of blogging tools consists of resource for all kind of bloggers (professional, part-time or personal) and I have structured them in different section.


This is an epic list of blogging tools which you can refer (hint: bookmark it. This way, you can pick the right tool for right purpose. I have used atleast 75% of these mentioned tools and remaining 25% are suggested by the bloggers I read and I trust. and find new tool for your blog or to enhance your blogging.

  • Windows Live writer: Best desktop editor for Windows OS, and you can publish directly from your desktop.
  • Blogo: Desktop publishing tool for Mac and supports WordPress.
  • Evernote: I use this to take quick notes on my iPhone and it’s available via cloud syncing.

Content idea generation tools

  • BuzzSumo: Enter a website or enter a topic to find most shared & engaged content.
  • Quora: Search for your keywords in search box of Quora, and you will get unlimited ideas for your blog content.
  • Blog topic generator: Enter your keyword and it will give you post ideas.
  • Google Trends: Check the currently trending topic or find the search trend for any keyword of your choice.

Blog post title tool:

  • EMV tool: Checks the emotional marketing value of a title. Higher the EMV score is, better it will perform on social-media channels.
  • Headline Analyzer : This is the best tool in this lot. It doesn’t matter how dumb you are, you will end up churning out the best title for your blog post.

  • Potent C idea generator: Call it content idea generator or title generator, it works both the ways.

  • Hemingway App: Free web-based tool to improve your writing. I’m sure you will end up bookmarking this.
  • Grammarly: Saviour for a non-native English speaker like me. Helps in proof-reading, suggest words & perfect companion.

  • Flickr Advance search : Use Flickr Advance search to find images with creative common license.
  • Google image search: Use images with appropriate license which you can use on your blog.
  • Image Suite : WordPress plugin which searches 9 different sources to find free to use images. Best part, you don’t have to add image credits.

Blog reading and content discovery tool:

  • Feedly: Subscribe to any blog feeds or search for your interested topic to discover new blogs to subscribe to.
  • Zite : A content discover app for iOS and Android. One of my favourite.
  • Prismatic : A content discovery app for iOS and Android which is based on social recommendation. Fewer content than Zite but high-quality.
  • Pocket: Read it later app which is also a productive app. Integrated in all the above reading app and let you save articles for reading it later.

Desktop Image/video recording + editing tools:

  • Camtasia: Available for both Windows and Mac OS, and let you record screencast. Offers one month free trial.
  • Snag it: Image capturing and editing tool for Mac and Windows OS. One of the best and highly recommended for bloggers.
  • Image Optim: Mac Image compressor tool which optimise your images for web.
  • MPEG Streamclip : A powerful desktop video convertor software for Windows and Mac. You can use it to convert, cut, trim and join videos. I usually use it to convert video format to reduce size of the video.
  • Audacity: A sound recorder tool for all major desktop OS. Useful for podcasters, as you can record and edit your recordings.
  • Google plus hangout: This is one underused free tool by bloggers. Use it to co-host a webinar, or run a Q&A session with your readers. Streams & record everything on your Youtube channel too.

Visitors stats and analytics tool: 

  • Google analytics: The best solution to see advance details about your blog traffic. Also shows live traffic status of your blog.
  • Jetpack plugin: Offers a module call WordPress.com stats, which let you see traffic details from your WordPress dashboard.

Outsourcing websites:

  • Fiverr: Outsource things like youtube video intro, buy social media like & many more for only $5.
  • oDesk: Great place to hire virtual assistant or freelancers to get job done.
  • 99designs: Crowd-sourcing website for your web-design needs. Cheap and quality is high.
  • Problogger Job board: Need content writer?.. This job board is the right place to find authentic writer. Cost $50, but you will find the best of the writers here.

Productivity tools: Take control of your time

  • Headspace: Tired of blogging constantly? Use Headspace and meditate for 5 minutes. You will thank me later!
  • Wunderlist : Manage your to-do with Wanderlust. Available on all platform and store data on the cloud.
  • Trello: A card based task management tool. I used to use it in the past, but now shifted to Wunderlist. Still Trello serve different purpose & is very popular.
  • Rescuetime: Sends you weekly stats (Configurable) of which site you spent most time on. A good idea to start noticing your counter productive time, and save your precious time. Install, configure & it runs in background.
  • Selfcontrol: App for mac which let you block access to certain site. Try blocking Facebook, and notice how productivity increases for you. I bet!

Keyword research tools:

  • Google Keyword planner: Free and easy to use keyword research tool.
  • LongTailPro : Desktop based (Windows & Mac) Keyword research tool. Perfect for those who have little experience of Keyword research.
  • SEMrush: Non-typical keyword tool, let you find keywords which a website is ranking for. Use it to find long-tail keywords which are easy to rank for.

SEO tools:

  • Google Webmaster tool: Free tool from Google which shows various data such as links to your website, duplicate content, keyword ranking.
  • Bing webmaster tool: Similar as Google Webmaster tool, but it’s for Bing search engine.
  • Integrity: Desktop tool for Mac which checks your blog for broken links (Internal and external).
  • ScreamingFrog: Desktop SEO tool which let you check your blog from web-spider point of view. Available for Windows, Ubuntu and Mac OS.
  • KWfinder: I discovered this tool while researching for this post. Guess what? I fallen in love with it. Will share a detailed review soon, for now you should try & bookmark it. Free plan let you make 5 searches in 24 hours, which is pretty neat.

  • BufferApp: This will never let you social media profile run out of content. Also offers mobile app call Daily, which let you add high-quality content to your social media profiles.
  • Hootsuite : Best Social media dashboard tool which let you manage all social media channels from single dashboard. Supports Google plus and you can auto post content from your blog RSS feed. (Free 30 days trial)
  • Postplanner: Post scheduling tool for Facebook which is constantly updated with new feature and help you to take care of Facebook edge rank algorithm.  (Free Trial)
  • ClickToTweet: Create single link to tweet. You can use it within your blog post to increase number of tweets.
  • SocialPilot: New kid in social media tool, but I love it as they offer iOS app. (Have Android app too). Doesn’t support Google Plus, but offer support for Facebook group.

  • Canva: The most talked social media image tool. Offers images of various size based on specific social-media platform.
  • PicMonkey: Online photo editing and photo design tool. Also let you create photo collage.
  • Pictochart: Infographics are most shared content type on social-media & Pictochart is best free Infographic tool you can use right away.
  • QuotesCover: Create visually appealing quotes images.

  1. Not a bad review of Hemingway, have you tried INK at all? Hemingway and INK are similar, but INK also gives notes on tweaks to make for ranking improvements. I would love to hear your opinion on your experience with the INK platform.
